Your Ideas are Worth Something
Let’s Explore Together through The Artist’s Way!
Your ideas are worth something. You matter. Creativity matters. There are ideas floating around waiting for someone to make use of them. That was my main take away I read, or rather listened to, Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. It was the first book in my fledgling book club.
I’d never heard of it before it was suggested to me by ChatGPT. I was looking for comp titles for the book I was writing and it said, “While not fiction, this book is deeply rooted in creativity, personal transformation, and the pursuit of dreams. It aligns with Lucy’s journey to reclaim her life and vision, and Gabe’s guidance to help her find inner strength.”
I was intrigued. When I first listened to it I felt like Liz Gilbert was speaking to my soul.
“The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, an then stands back to see if we can find them.”
“We are all just beginners here, and we shall all die beginners.”
“You can measure your worth by your dedication to your path, not by your successes or failures.”
Now, this week, I’m starting on The Artist’s Way. We’re meeting next week and I’m excited to dive in … mostly because I’ve chosen to not read the whole thing. We’ll be going through this a little bit at a time. Even if it does end up being just me and my accountability buddy again for discussion next week. I’m excited to get started.
I am a slow reader and life gets in the way so much. That’s when forming this book club, I’m intentionally taking baby steps. Just read the introduction through the basic tools. In my version that’s just pages 1-24. We’ll take it one week at a time from there. I hope you can join me.
